County Civil

A county civil case is filed seeking monetary compensation based on the value of work performed, damages suffered, or money loaned or owed.  Civil actions or lawsuits in County Court are for damages or amounts owed in excess of $8,000.00, but no more than $50,000.00. The filing fee for a county civil case is $400, excluding summons fee ($10 each).

If damages or amount owed are $8,000.00 or less, you need to file your civil action in Small Claims Court. If damages or amount of claim is over $50,000, you need to file your civil action in Circuit Court. If you do not feel comfortable representing yourself, you may wish to obtain the services of an attorney.
